Charles began his EMS career in the mid-1990s when he earned his Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Certification as a Junior in High School. After volunteering with his local Fire / EMS agency (Franklin Fire and Rescue), he attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (VA Tech) where he continued to volunteer with the VA Tech Rescue Squad, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management, as well as his Nationally Registered Paramedic Certification.
Charles has over 20 years of combined professional experience with Hospital based EMS systems, such as Carilion Clinic Patient Transportation Services in Roanoke, VA and Indiana University Health LifeLine in Indianapolis, IN, and private EMS systems such as CARE Ambulance Service and American Medical Response, both located in Indianapolis, IN. Charles has additional experience as a Communications Center Manager, Critical Care Flight Paramedic and Mass Gathering Event Manager – most recently with the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
As an experienced EMS leader, Charles enjoys creating environments in which teams of EMS professionals are successful.
Charles and his wife of nearly 20 years, Glenda, currently reside in Plainfield, IN with their four sons, two dogs and one cat. Having earned his Eagle Scout as a teenager, he is actively involved with all four sons in the Scouting Program in Central Indiana. He is also active with the Plainfield Optimist Miracle Movers and Sports Association and serves as a Life Group Leader and Usher with Kingsway Christian Church.
