Todd Whitaker
General Manager – Ohio

As the son of a police officer, Todd grew up around public safety families that included fellow police officers, firefighters and life squad members. After high school and attending one year at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga, he returned home to Cincinnati to take numerous entry level civil service tests for positions ranging from state trooper, police officer and firefighter.

In 1987, Todd accepted a position as a firefighter with the Covington, Kentucky Fire Department, became an Emergency Medical Technician, and married his high school sweetheart, Teresa.

During his 24 year career with Covington, Todd was promoted to Captain, became a paramedic, worked as a Marketing Representative with Citywide Ambulance, completed his Associate’s Degree in Emergency Medical Services from the University of Cincinnati, and worked for several other fire and EMS agencies in the Northern Kentucky area. Todd and his family also owned and operated three retail dollar store locations, from 1999 to 2008, including managing a staff of fifteen employees.

In April of 2013 Todd accepted a position with the Erlanger, Kentucky Fire/EMS Department as Administrative Fire/EMS Training Captain. In October of that year he was named Fire/EMS Chief of the 45 Member Department. During his career with Erlanger Todd completed his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Thomas More University; a Master’s Degree in Management and Leadership from Western Governors University; and Chief Fire Officer Designation from the Center for Public Safety Excellence. Todd was also named as a Member of the Chamber of Commerce’s 2017 Leadership of Northern Kentucky Class, and began volunteering with the Big Brothers/Big Sisters Program of Cincinnati, in which he remains active to this day.

Career wise, Todd loves practicing the aspects of participative and servant leadership, while celebrating the personal and professional growth of those around him. Todd and Teresa reside in Cold Spring, Kentucky, sharing their home with both elderly mothers (Maggie and Wanda) and two poodles (Betty and Remy). Their children (Treston and Tessa) are both proud graduates of the University of Alabama and live nearby. Todd welcomed his first grandchild (Luka) in 2020and is anxiously awaiting the February birth of grandson number two. Todd and his family enjoy the white sand beaches of the Gulf of Mexico, Alabama football, Cincinnati sports teams, board games, and hosting the weekly Thursday night dinners.
